"... Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me." -- Matthew 25:41
Welcome to the website for Catholic Youth Outreach West Bend, a collaborative program among the West Bend and Newburg area parishes to provide high school students the opportunity to reach out and serve others across the country on week-long mission trips as well as here in our own community through local mission camps. Through these experiences, students will grow in faith, develop new friendships, actively live out the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, and have some fun along the way!

Local Mission Camps for Summer 2023 - Signup is live!
Catholic Youth Outreach of West Bend is ready for another summer of Mission Camps! We are looking for teens to serve and adult leaders to help mentor them – serve for a shift, a day, or multiple days! We also want to reach out to local residents who need some work done around their homes. Mission Camps offer a local mission experience right here in our own backyard, an opportunity to help those in need in our own community, and a chance to serve with your friends (and make new ones too!).
Dates and times: June 19-22, hosted by St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception; July 17-20, hosted by Holy Angels
Each day has two shifts: AM from 9:00am-2:00pm, PM from 3:00pm-8:00pm; each shift includes a meal and time to reflect on your service experience with peers and adult leaders.
Cost: $10/day for one shift, $15/day for both shifts.
Teens and adult leaders needed! Signup here via Jotform
Local residents – if you have a project we could potentially help with, please contact Brian Mase at 262-343-2370.
Questions? Contact Mary Abel (SFC/SMIC) at 262-338-5605 or mabel@wbparishes.org OR Brian Mase (HA) at 262-343-2370 or maseb@hawb.org

Mission Trip 2023 - Cincinnati, OH - July 30-August 4, 2023
We are headed back to Cincinnati this summer to work with our friends at the Tau House! Here are some FAQ's for the trip:
When is the mission trip? July 30-August 4, 2023 (leave Sunday AM, return Friday evening)
Who can go on the trip? Any teen who has completed 8th grade up through graduating high school seniors (as of June 2023)
Where do we stay?
We stay at the Tau House, a converted 3-story convent in the St. Bernard neighborhood of Cincinnati. The main floor has a full kitchen where we will prepare our meals, a dining room where everyone eats in community, and a large gathering area for discussions and large group free time with a variety of games available. The upper two floors (one for guys and one for girls) have several bedrooms each that have 2-6 beds, fans, and a sink. Community bathrooms are also located on each sleeping floor.
How will we get there?
We will travel in assigned van groups; each van will have 4-5 teens and 2 adults. We use vans because in Cincinnati, we are assigned to our work sites by the Tau House in small groups as opposed to one large work group, and the vans make it easier to travel to our work sites and back each day. Our vans will travel in a caravan, making a couple of rest/food stops along the way between Holy Angels and the Tau House, and likewise on the way back.
What will we do when we get there?
We will have a variety of experiences in Cincinnati; each day will consist of prayer, service, time for reflection, and a lot of fun! We will serve at a different community organization each day, either serving people directly (day care, soup kitchen, thrift store), or indirectly (painting, yardwork, home repair). We spend time reflecting on our service work each day both in our van groups and as a large group. We also sample some local cuisine (read: Skyline Chili, Graeter’s Ice Cream) and take a little time to explore the city (oh yes, there will be fun!). Thanks to our friends in Hamilton County, we also have access to a community pool very nearby the Tau House to cool off on those hot summer afternoons!
Why should I go?
It is true that service work can (and should) be done wherever we are, including right here at home, which we can do at any time (including our CYO WB Mission Camp service weeks during the summer). Mission trips are about more than service work though; they are an experience to help us grow in faith and community in a different way than we can do while in our familiar day-to-day surroundings. We may step a little bit out of our comfort zone, but that’s how we grow. Ask anyone who has been on a mission trip, whether it’s to Cincinnati or somewhere else – they will probably share their unique experience with you and encourage you to have one of your own!
Cost: $200 ($100 non-refundable deposit will hold the spot), includes a CYO WB t-shirt and water bottle
A special note to adults: We need a few adult leaders (does that mean YOU?) to accompany our teens during this week-long experience, so please pray about this! No special training required (other than the Archdiocese-mandated safe environment training, of course), just the willingness to hang out with teens for a week and actively live out your faith through serving others. As a way to thank you for your time, there is no cost for adult leaders to be part of this mission trip.
How to register (for teens and adult leaders):
Teens: http://bit.ly/40Yfx76
Adults: http://bit.ly/3YwMkia
Please understand that this is a first-come, first-serve signup (up to 20 teens). Payment for teens’ spots can be made on the website or by check, payable to Holy Angels, with “CYO 23 Registration” in the memo line.
Is there a meeting schedule?
Yes, there will be - that will be announced at a later date once we have our teen and adult participants signed up. Anticipate that we will get together a handful of times leading up to the trip so everyone who is going will get to know each other a bit before we hit the road in July. We will also have you complete the rest of the paperwork (permission slips, etc.) at the first of these meetings.
