Summer Maintenance Assistant
Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of custodial and general maintenance duties associated with the cleaning and maintenance of Holy Angels School.
Work Hours: Mon-Friday | 7am-4pm | Hours are flexible

Duties
- Performs general custodial duties in assigned areas including restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, floor scrubbing and waxing, vacuuming, cleaning stairways, halls, classrooms and other areas.
- Operates equipment to clean and renovate floor surfaces.
- Assists with unloading, loading, delivery, and/or moving of school desks, other furniture, books and supplies.
- Assists in the maintenance and preparing for next school year.
- Performs other related duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to record duties performed.
- Physical ability & strength to perform tasks including moving school desks, books and other items.
- Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.

Full-Time Maintenance Assistant
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Assistant is to provide basic maintenance services for the school, parish of Holy Angels and may include some cemetery help as well. This includes assisting with set ups, takedowns and providing cleaning services for parish and school activities. Responsible for basic maintenance of buildings, equipment and parish grounds lawn care. Coordinates efforts with maintenance and custodial staff, when applicable.
Must be able to perform all aspects of the job as described below where applicable.
Knowledge
∙ High school diploma or equivalent required.
∙ Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Skills
∙ Good problem solving, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
∙ Professional working attitude and collaborative approach.
∙ Good written and verbal communication.
∙ Some understanding and application of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Abilities
∙ Manage time efficiently and adjust work schedule as needs and situations arise. May include occasional weekend work.
∙ Flexibility is required regarding work hours. Normal working hours will be 7:30am - 4:30pm.
∙ Ability to take direction and work with minimum supervision.
∙ Self-motivated.
∙ Attentive to details.
∙ Comply with OSHA Safety and health rules.
∙ PHYSICAL DEMAND LEVEL/ EQUIVALENT MET LEVEL - Heavy/6.4-7.5 METs (greater than 50 lbs.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assisting with cleaning classrooms, hallways, washrooms/lavatories, drinking fountains, offices, cafeteria, gym, entrances, etc. on an as needed basis by dust mopping, vacuuming, and wet mopping.
2. Performs light duty are routine repairs and maintenance, as needed (e.g. replacing ballasts, light bulbs, valves, etc.).
3. Cleans outside buildings and inspects & communicates areas of damage, litter, and/or conditions of general deterioration.
4. Assisting with scheduled monthly, semi-annual, and annual duties (i.e. floor scrubbing, painting, window washing, carpet cleaning, etc.).
5. Help with set up and cleaning of facilities for activities on property.
6. Works with volunteers directed by supervisor.
8. Maintains cleanliness and safety of parish grounds and facilities following recommendations from Catholic Mutual, e.g., chemical requirements such as MSDS.
9. Other miscellaneous job tasks as assigned
