Encounter Experiences

Picture
In the midst of the pandemic that we are currently experiencing, we know that opportunities to physically gather together will be hard to come by, and for good reason, as we protect the health of ourselves and each other during the foreseeable future.  That can make youth ministry a bit challenging!

That’s why we have re-purposed “Encounter Experiences” in order to promote some great online resources.  Some of these are live events taking place inviting teens from all over the country at a particular day and time, some of them are resources that you can access anytime.  Just like any conference, concert, or prayer service that someone can attend in person, these online Experiences are designed to be a chance for our youth to encounter Christ in a way that they may not have the opportunity to otherwise.

Each Encounter Experience is open to all middle school and high school students to participate!  Unless otherwise noted, they are all free of charge and require no special login or technology in order to access.  Please also feel free to share these resources with other friends and family along the way.

In addition to these resources below, remember that Holy Angels is streaming events on an almost daily basis! Live events are on our Facebook page, then they are posted on our Live page for viewing anytime: hawb.org/live.

As always, contact Brian Mase at maseb@hawb.org or 262-343-2370 with any questions.

Sunday nights at 7:00pm Central!
ProjectYM Live

Thousands of teenagers from across the country are gathering on Sunday nights for the BIGGEST YOUTH NIGHT EVER. It’s called ProjectYM Live and each week it’ll feature some of the biggest speakers and worship leaders in the Catholic youth ministry world, including Paul J. Kim, Katie Prejean McGrady (one of the emcees at NCYC this past November), and Fr. Mike Schmitz (you've probably seen him on YouTube)!

Holy Angels is excited to participate – all your teen has to do is head to PROJECTYM.COM/WATCH this Sunday at 7:00pm Central.

Two quick notes:
1. The broadcast starts at 7:00pm CDT, but plan to log in a few minutes early to make sure you're good to go when it starts. The event is LIVE and it should last about an hour.
2. You access the event on any device with a web browser – but the faster the connection, the better.

PS. Parents: though this event is geared at teenagers, you are invited to watch along with them!

The great thing about this event is that it's a little taste of what we get the opportunity to experience at a youth conference, but in this case, from the comfort of your own home (and for FREE)!  Please encourage your friends to watch along with you (virtually of course, gotta maintain social distancing)!

NEW!!  Access past PROJECTYM Live nights here:
PROJECTYM.COM/REPLAY
You can watch (or re-watch) the entire event; please download the resource sheets below for each date.

April 12 (Easter Sunday): Fr. Agustino Torres (NCYC emcee this past November) presenting, PJ Anderson leading worship
April 5 (Palm Sunday): Fr. Mike Schmitz presenting, ALOB (Andrew Laubacher) leading worship

ONE TAKEAWAY: SIGN YOUR NAME
Fr. Mike talked about the way Jesus "signs his name" to each of our lives - how do you "sign your name" to his?
March 29: Katie Prejean McGrady presenting, Jeremy Rodriguez leading worship
ONE TAKEAWAY: 5 STEPS TO HELP YOU HAVE A 5 MINUTE CONVERSATION WITH GOD
Katie challenged everyone to set 5 minutes aside each day for a meaningful conversation with God.
Write down these simple steps to help enter into prayer at the end of the day:
   1. Take a minute of silence and ask to come into the presence of Christ.
   2. Recall the events of your day. Ask Jesus to show you where he has been with you throughout your day.
   3. Give thanks for the ways in which Jesus blessed you throughout your day.
   4. Ask forgiveness for the sins that you have committed this day.
   5. Pour out your petitions (pray for yourself and others). Ask for the grace to love as Christ loves.

Other Resources

We will keep adding to these as we learn about them; please also keep an eye on our home page for the latest information!

Local help needed!
Marie Joers who is in charge of Pastoral Care has been making goody bags for the elderly and leaving them on parishioners doorsteps--we could use more letters to put in these goodie bags! If anyone has time and wants to write letters to the elderly in our parish community, we encourage you to do so! Just a note in the card saying that you are thinking of them, praying for them, wishing them well, describing what you did that day--they would appreciate so much. You can send the letters to:
Holy Angels Parish 138 N 8th Ave West Bend, WI 53095
We will make sure that the letters go to the folks that need them. Please consider helping with this IMPORTANT ministry. Thank you in advance!

Also from ProjectYM:
As we enter into Holy Week, a good video to watch with the whole family is "How to Observe Lent as a Family" from Beyond the Pew (an awesome family-focused resource from our friends at Ablaze Ministries). Check it out!

From the Archdiocese of Milwaukee's St. John Paul II Office for the New Evangelization:
One way our St. John Paul II Office has responded is by offering an at-home resource for Holy Week. This 43 page guide includes Catholic rituals and practical suggestions for you, your families, and those you serve. Between communal prayers, reflections, hymns, and even movie options, this guide should aid you and your people to dive deep into this most holy of weeks. You can download the at-home guide below:
