Minutes of Elizabeth Ministry meeting of 3-11-09

present:  Mary Wolf, Rosanne Nosacek, Annie Fichtner, Lisa LaFond, Linda Steiner, Jenny Casper, Paula Beine, & Mary Yahr

Prayer:  reading Luke 1:39-56 and personal intentions

Lisa shared a thank you card to Elizabeth Ministry from a parishoner for the baptism gift bag and our prayers for their family.

Lisa shared Jeannie Hanneman’s response to our question of how long the roses should remain in the vase for the Rosebud Program.  Jeannie said that each parish makes its own determination, but a suggestion is to keep them in throughout the pregnancy, until a child is conceived or adopted, or until the annual memorial of miscarriage or infant loss.  In the cases where people have shared information with us which allows us to know when these events take place, we will leave the roses in the vase.  In the cases where we do not have such information, we will remove the roses at the end of the each month.  Lisa will rerun the bulletin announcement explaining the Rosebud Program and rearrange the E.M. corner.

At a future meeting, we will discuss having a yearly miscarriage or infant loss memorial.

Annie Fichtner provided red envelopes for those who wished to participate in red envelope day.  On March 31, people will be mailing empty red envelopes to President Obama with the following message on the outside, “This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion.  It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be a part of our world.”

Rosanne and Tom Nosacek donated a miscarriage burial vessel.  Our priests and deacon will be notified that we have one if the need for it arises.
