ELIZABETH MINISTRY MEETING

ELIZABETH MINISTRY MINUTES

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

Present: Jenny Casper, Annie Fichtner, Jane and Mark Jansen, Lisa LaFond

Mark opened the meeting with prayer.

NFP WORKSHOP  HA is planning a series of marriage support seminars, topics include Finances, early childhood parenting, etc.  Mark suggested the EM group host an NFP workshop as part of this series.  The presenter would be Dr. Cynthia Jones-Nosacek.  Other speakers were considered, but a physician would give overview of methods and be able to answer any technical questions.  It was decided due to the proximity of Advent and Christmas to work on planning now for the event in January.   Jenny will send out an e-mail asking for an organizer.  Tom Nosacek has volunteered to create a flyer.  It was discussed whether we should offer this Archdiocese-wide.  Engaged and newly married couples could be invited by personal invitation, in addition to a bulletin announcement.  Would like to have it in the sanctuary.

Lisa discussed the “Change for Life” bottle program, which starts this weekend.

ROSEBUD PROGRAM   Lisa has the flowers, basket and prayer cards ready to go.  Annie proofed the placard and it was approved.   Lisa will print on “good” paper.

EM registration forms will also be available at the cradle area.  Jenny will be the contact person for people who wish to be called.  Lisa will check the cabinet three times a week for prayer requests, etc.

Mark will check with Fr. Jerry to see if we can hang the EM sign on the wall to make it more visible.  Jenny will frame it.

Mark will ask Jim Fischer to get an EM plaque made for the cabinet—to match others in church.

Paula wants EM ministers to announce the Rosebud Program next weekend, Oct. 11-12.  Jenny and Annie will coordinate the announcement and the speakers.  Mark will be our backup if need be.  Fr. Jerry writes the announcements on Saturday, so it should be in by Friday.

Lisa also put a heads up for the rosebud program in the bulletin, and a thank you for knit items and baby food jars.

BAPTISM BAGS  The bags have been a big hit, they were started a bit earlier than planned, and thus we need to have another bag making event (see below)!  As of tonight, there are three bags left, there are two baptisms this weekend.  Lisa and Jenny will assemble some bags this Friday to help restock.

Barb has been putting the baptism certificates in the bags to help the Priests remember to present them.  We will ask her to put the baptism registration forms in our EM basket when she is done with them, so we can have a record of who rec’d bags.  Discussed sending “one year” anniversary cards, decided not to pursue that right now.

Mark suggested a small bottle of Holy Water in the bags.  Group thought it was a good idea.

Also to check with Katie Talbot to see if there is anything in the catalog she orders from for LAGS that would work for the bags, then we could get her discount-30% off.

Discussed storage and supply issues, there are some cabinets in the church basement that might work, Jenny will check into that, and also Sundays to check supplies.

Saturday November 1st.  Get-together after Mass to assemble more bags.  Small Potluck Breakfast, juice and coffee provided.

Pampering Day for Pregnant women  Tabled for now until Rosanne is feeling better.

Annie will research a bath salts recipe, can put in the extra baby food jars that are too big for candles.

Next meeting November 12 at 7:30.
