Minutes of Parish Council Meeting on March 18, 2010 

The Finance Committee Meeting considering the budget was still in progress when the council members arrived at 7:30 and continued to 8:00 PM. 

Present: Fr. Jerry, Fr. Nathan, Paula Beine, Don Felix, David Beine, Ted Casper, Heidi Fellenz, Mike Melaney, Colleen Mas, Carol Bork, Mike Nowack, Mary Young. Absent: Frank Stangl 

Mike Nowack led the opening prayer. 

Jack Daniels presented the budget for 2010-2011 approved by the Finance Committee

·         The forecast for the current year’s operations suggests a loss of approximately $97K. The forecast contains $25K in capital expenditures which will not be expended, reducing the projected loss to $72K.

·         Wages and salaries will be frozen for the 2nd year except for teacher steps.

·         There will be one less teacher in the school.

·         Enrollment is projected at 339.

·         Tuition for the 1st student is increased by $123 to $1,998; the tuition increase is about 6.6%.

·         The school subsidy is set at $600K (45.5% of parish revenue).

·         Collection are projected with a 2.5% increase.

·         Capital improvements will be done with money from the Faith In Our Future funds.

The budget was passed by consensus. 

The Action Plan put together by the teachers from the various levels in school in response to the parent survey was passed out. 

Carol Bork, in her Human Concerns Committee report, pointed out that the shelter program across the street from the parish has new management called Hebron House.

One of the two social workers running the shelter will be at the next Human Concerns Committee meeting on April 20 at 7:00 PM. 

An ad hoc committee for the selection of new parish council members was established.  Members include Paula Beine, Heidi Fellenz, and Colleen Mas.  They may add Greg Zimmer.  The date for the council election was set for May 15-16. 

The next Parish Council meeting on April 15 will include a discussion of the parish web site.
