Mary Young was introduced as new council member. Later she was asked to serve on the Hiring Practices committee. She accepted.
Jack Daniels presented his budget assumptions for the next year. Sheet attached.
Fr. Jerry pointed out that from Nov. 1, 2008 to Nov. 1, 2009 the parishioners had given $223,000 to the Faith In Our Future Campaign. We are in the 2nd year of these pledges. This budget is the 3rd and last year of these pledges. Hopefully the monies diverted to the campaign will then return to the regular operating budget.
The Day School Committee will be invited to the February Parish Council Meeting.
The minutes were not approved. This summary is offered as a possible solution.
Finance Committee had recommended that in light of the situation in Haiti, the 1% of our funds that we send to Sagrada Familia in the Dominican Republic be sent now; this would be $5,000. The Council concurred
Mike Melaney reported that all comments from the Survey of school parents had been given to the appropriate teacher and the committee would follow up on them. The one area of concern was in the area of discipline and seem to focus on the current 8th grade.
Pat Bollen asked if a Council member would like to be on the daycare committee.
A proposal from the previous meeting asked that the by-laws of the Council specify that the manner of replacing a resignation from the Council should be the order of election from the last Council election. Fr. Jerry consulted with the Archdiocese; they suggested that it be left more flexible. The Council decided to leave the language as is.
Mike Melaney was elected the new Vice-chair of the Council
Future agenda items could include school survey results and coffee & donut Sundays.
