Guests: Mark Jansen, Pat Bollen.

Opening Prayer / Scripture Reflection / Personal Prayer: Led by Don Felix.
Budget 2009-2010: Council reviewed the ongoing discussion of the budget for next year. At this time the parish is looking at two potential budgets, as we wait for word from the Task Force formed to explore a school partnership with St. Mary Immaculate Conception. Looking at one scenario, Council concurred that an increase of 8.4% ($156 per child) in tuition would be unwise. The planned retirement of one teacher may potentially impact the budget; several possible options were discussed. The parish does not have any funds available to further supplement the planned subsidy. The budget will be further reviewed at the next meeting.
January Meeting Minutes: Council discussed the appropriateness of identifying speakers at council meetings, and made adjustments to the January meeting minutes, which will be approved at the next meeting.
Schools Partnership: Fr. Jerry asked for suggestions for possible representatives to the Task Force to explore a school partnership with St. Mary Immaculate Conception. Council shared comments regarding the joint parish council meeting held this week. The Task Force will report back to the parish to keep communication links open and accessible.
Committee Reports:
All liaisons are asked to submit to PC Secretary a roster of their respective committees.
Human Concerns – Carol Bork and JoAnn Hanrahan will co-chair the committee, and are planning to gather former and new members in a re-structuring meeting soon.
Finance – Fiscal year-to-date offerings are down $76,000 as compared to the budget. Committee anticipates YTD Net to be done $44,000. An Archdiocesan Audit found a number of items to be addressed further, although these primarily require procedural adjustments rather than any implied misuse of funds. Suggestions include: limiting the number of checkbooks authorized to parish personnel, eliminating use of signed blank checks, reconciling checks and invoices, tightening other internal controls, and verifying licensure requirements for the Football Fever Raffle.
School – Committee met 2/18/09. Committee discussed concerns regarding bullying among students and policies/procedures in place to address conflicts. Council also discussed the joint parish council meeting and the planned formation of a Task Force to explore partnership with St. Mary Immaculate Conception School. Mike Sternig sent a letter to all parents to keep communication open and accessible. Questions were raised about the dissemination of funds incoming through the Faith in Our Future Campaign. Tuition collection is on track with previous years (51% collected to date). Committee questioned whether there are any outcomes from the listening session that was held in January, or for the next session scheduled for Feb. 26th. Athletic Committee is transitioning from the end of basketball season to the beginning of volleyball and intramural basketball. The school received a generous donation toward the music program from a grandparent who attended the Christmas program.
Tuition Collection Ad Hoc Committee – School committee expressed concern that the pastor will apply policies equally and justly in all cases. Council also suggested that the documents be reviewed for minor typographical errors and consistency in referencing appendices, and thanked the ad hoc committee for its efforts.
Prayer and Worship: The Ministry Appreciation Dinner will be held March 14th at 5:30 pm in the Walnut Room, following 4:00 Mass.
